The diffuse intra-group/cluster light (ICL) is made of stars not bound to any particular galaxy member. The extremely low surface brightness of the ICL presents a significant challenge for its study. It is likely that the ICL is formed from the debris of galaxies torn apart by tidal interactions, although the specifics of this process remain poorly understood.

Here, I will discuss recent work we have been doing based on deep imaging obtained at the CFHT and Blanco observatories. I show some of the low surface brightness features we have detected in groups and clusters. I will examine in more detail the NGC 5098 group, which shows a complex structure suggesting a recent group collision and ongoing merging.
